Collaborative learning

This picture is showing the connective effect the collaborative learning will bring about. As one of them occurs, it can generate other conditions. Therefore, we should not neglect it for its successive effects. As for me, "Learning through reflection" is my favorite type of learning. There is no doubt that everyone all may make mistakes sometimes. However, do not be shameful to make errors, it is much more important to improve and reform it. Each time I discovered my faults, I might get quite frustrated with it at first. Yet, as i thought it from opposite viewpoint did I realize and feel pleased to find my drawbacks. Due to the understanding of it, I will no longer make the same mistakes again. On the counter part, "Generating multiple perspectives" is the bothersome type of learning for me. To be honest, I do not think I am a creative person. Hence, in most cases, I came up with only one thought on the matter which was not meeting the standard the teacher expected. Perhaps, in Taiwan, we are used to acquiring singular idea and thinking in only one view. It cause us lose the ability to think multiply. In order to avoid my thinking like downward spiral, I have to change, to get rid of former habit, and make good use of collaborative learning. I do believe I will be better than before.

  1. This picture seems to illustrate the benefit of collaborative learning, with different segments of different colors and shapes and size representing different things, which however, I didn’t figure out yet. Among these steps, or parts, I feel most comfortable with Generating Multiple Perspectives. I think generating various perspectives doesn’t mean that each person has to come up with more than one idea. Instead, it is a step in which everyone can think of just one unique idea of their own, whether conflicting, complementing or agreeing, and with all these various perspectives, the group can understand the subject more thoroughly as a whole. What’s bothering me most probably is Collaborative Deliberation. Personally I prefer working all by myself rather than collaborating with others because I’ve been convinced that “too many cooks spoil the soup”; I cannot bear the inefficiency that cannot be avoided in team work. I would be very glad if after my teammates provide their perspectives, all the works are left for me to finish. But I think I really have to correct this bad habit because team work is unavoidable when we are at work in the future; it’s also a way to learn to get along with others. So I’d better understand more about this “Collaborative Learning”.

  2. As for your viewpoint of collaborative deliberation, to be honest, I quite agree with it. Sometimes, I do not feel teamwork is more efficient than individual. Because too many opinions and thoughts tend to hardly meet the agreement among groups. Therefore, we should train and refine this part of collaborative learning as possible as we can, and I do believe we can make it someday.
