Actually, I am really enthusiastic about baseball game. Therefore, it might not be surprsing for you that my favorite celebrity is a baseball player: Hon-Chih, Kuo. I do believe some of you are familiar with him owing to his outstanding performance in Major League Baseball in these days. However, in addition to his extraordinary ability of stiking out truly impresses me, his story of baseball playinh in the rear even makes me adore him very much.
回覆刪除As a matter of fact, Kuo has become quite famous since he was in senior high. At that moment, he was not only the ace pitcher in his school team but also won many games in the senior high league match. His amazing ability in pitching really caught foreign professional teams' attention. For this reason, as he graduated from senior high, he contracted with the Los Angeles Dodgers at once. From the moment on, he officially became one of the members in MLB (the highest palace of professional baseball competition). However, all things did not go smoothly as we expected. Of course, he did a marvelous manifestation at his debut. Yet, due to overuse of his left hand in senior high league match, he soon got involved in consecutive perplexity of ligament operation. All of the sudden, his baseball career covered with gloomy clouds. Can you imagine a famous player who was used to ride the whirlwind has to go through such physical and internal struggles? Despite the upcoming challenges were quite harsh and unbearable, Kuo still faced with it on the bright side. He constantly told himself not to give up and everything would be possible to attain. Besides, he always cheered himself as he finished certain stage of recovery. His ambition of coming back ot the field was really strong and thereby made it come true step by step. In the period of recuperation, he not only acquired former talents in pitching but also beckoned once-disappeared confidence.
I do believe Kuo's spirit really can apply to our daily life as well. Perhaps, the dilemma we face with nowadays is a touchstone which will lead us to succeed in the future days. Hence, next time we met with difficulty, we are supposed to put with it and even to dominate it.
When it comes to the famous singer, we will absolutely talk about Crowd Lu. He is one of the most talented singers in Taiwan. He has a weird hair style, and he never wears trousers. When I first saw the cover of his album, I just regarded him as a bad looking person. What does he got? What the hell is the reason that this kind of person can release his album? However, when I heard his most famous song Good Morning the Beauty of Morning, which with the interesting and very easy lyrics, I thought that it is quite touching. He just combined the simple melody and brief lyrics. Since then, I have become one of his fans. The reason why he became my hero is that, he is not only a talented singer but a talented guitarist. I used to learn guitar when I was in senior high, I know that who plays really well. I can see the soul in his music. He is a person who surely wants to bring the positive way of thinking to others. His song is filled with happiness. When I was in lower spirit, I will just turn on my I Pod to listen to his song, and I will think that this world is not too awful. Every time when I listen to his song, I will just keep going from the stock point I have meet. And I also wish that I can play the guitar as well as him. Although I'm just a rookie in the stage, I will try to be the Crowd Lu of next generation.
回覆刪除I would like to introduce you Sun Chiung Li (孫窮理), the founder of Coolloud (苦勞網). Mr. Sun was also one of the school brothers of Fu Jen and and was one of the founders of Black Ditch Club. He majored in law during 1990 to 1996. He was once the President of the Student Association in Fu Jen. After the graduation, he had tried many different kinds of works, such as part-time jobs at convenience store and factory; others like working as the assistant at politician campaign headquarter, member of the public cleaning team and so on. Afterwards, he decided to start up the platform Coolloud with his friends.
回覆刪除Coolloud is an online-based platform that allows social activists, student activists, environmental activists, labor rights activists, and all the people who care about what really happens in our society to access the various information from different points of views rather than the limited information from the main stream media. Most of my information about Central Science Park (中部科學園區), Young Fast (洋華光電) , Foxconn (富士康), Taiwan International Workers Association (TIWA,台灣國際勞工協會), Green Party Taiwan (台灣綠黨), National Federation of Independent Trade Unions(全國自主勞工聯盟)and other NGOs all comes from Coolloud. Coolloud really influence me a lot that I found things I could have never known from the articles at Coolloud. And reading through the news and critics on Coolloud makes me reflect on myself and the society I'm in.
With countless experience of working at various places and participating in numerous parades and protests, Mr. Sun is a very experienced and sophisticated person. I appreciate his braveness and determination to march toward his ideal. I would like to take him as my model and encourage myself to be a brave person to get what I want.

Dear Alfee,
回覆刪除That was really an inspiring story. I believe that Kuo must be very frustrated when he found out what had happened to his left arm; it was more or less like a heavy punch on a men who was about to start his promising career. However, he didn't give up. Instead, he overcame the physical difficulties and made himself a better baseball player. I'm not really a baseball fan. But I appreciate and admire Kuo's determination to fulfill his dream.
I think we all need this kind of braveness and eagerness to reach our goal. For me, a senior-to-be, who is about to graduate and get into the society, I really need firm motive and belief to face the reality. Good luck on all of us. =]
Thanks for sharing.

Dear Martin,
回覆刪除I've heard Lu's songs several times. They are very interesting and inspiring. I think his music somehow show his attitude toward life. The lyrics are usually some comments about his daily life and events happen around him. And he uses a lot of repetition in his songs. Although some people claim that his famous song is kind of childish and meaningless, I appreciate his work. I think his song is encouraging people to live with positive attitude.
In addition, I think he has a very unique appearance. I mean, he dress like everyone else, but he has an old-fashioned haircut and wears weird glasses. His exaggerated appearance remind me of some comedians.
Recently I was tired of the main stream pop music culture, so I kind of turned to the minor singers who write their own lyrics and compose their own songs. I think Lu is the one who can out-stand those mainstream pop music singers. I'm looking forward to see his performances.
By the way, if you want to try some different types of “rock music”, I would like to recommend you 農村武裝青年. Their music is very special that they combines rock with rural music. Give it a try! http://blog.yam.com/user/countryboys.html
