  1. There are lots of college student have join the Internet community and I’m no exception. I have use some of them just like youtube, wretch, plurk, and facebook.
It is no t exaggerate at all to say that Internet community is a synonym of college life today. I was hooked by plurk recently after I give up my facebook. Facebook used to be my favorite one because there are lots of web games, and we can chat with others on that course. The most famous part is that there are still many psychological tests we can do. However, as time passed by, there are more and more test which not seems logical. It just asks you to click once and the result just come up. There are also more and more advertisements on facebook, so I have a ideas of giving it up.
I turn to plurk, I find it is quite fascinating. I can write whatever I want without being found by others if I don’t add them as my friend. I can share my picture and video on it, too. There is no advertisement on plurk. The most special founction of plurk is that. It has robot. What is called a robot? It is a character controlled by computer. If you add some robots on your friend list your plurk will become deadly interesting. You can ask them to find some music, say good morning to you, and give you some suggestions on your horoscope, isn’t that interesting? Please add me as a friend!
Wait for you guys. My account is : martinshie.

  2. I do agree with that we all cannot live without Internet nowadays. Through the Internet, we can easily complete lots of works like shopping, acquiring information, and even making friends with one another. For this reason, the Internet communities are thereby coming into being. And it indeed provides us a platform for all Internet users to enjoy the pastime. And I do think the majority of college students are addicted to it as well. :P
Actually, among these Internet communities, YouTube is the one which I click most frequently. I can choose whatever short films or MVs of music I like at will on this website. I watched funny films or ball games most of times. And it does really five me the careless and leisure feelings after finishing school assignments and reports. And most importantly, all these films uploaded on the website are all free for Internet browser. That may be the main reason why YouTube can receive so many people's favors around the world.
The second frequently-used Internet community I use is Facebook. The function of facebook is more sophisticated than YouTube. It mingles a lot of other websites' utilities together on its own. For example, if we like some videos posted on YouTube, we aslo can upload it to the Facebook to let our online friends appreciate it. Of course, the most distinguished feature of Facebook is that we can reunite our old friends and keep in touch with them. By means of the data we fill in the profile blanks, the system of Facebook will match probable friends' links with us. And I thereby contact with them as well. Besides, users of Facebook can play some psychological games which are rather interesting and funny.
I do think using these Internet communities really kiils our boring time in college. However, we are supposed to use it in moderation rather than be the Internet addictioner. Otherwise, it may run counter to our desires.

  3. To tell the truth, I'm addicted to Internet communities. I use Facebook, youtube and plurk. Among the three, I like Plurk the most.

I'm a heavy user of Plurk. Plurk is the micro blogging similar to Twitter and Baboo. Each post of plurk is limited to upmost 140 words. There are various kinds of facial expression icons for people to choose when posting on plurk. The only difference between Plurk and Twitter is that Plurk presents each line of message on a time flow. From left to right of the time flow, messages are listed according to the time sequence, which makes the user easier to identify what had happen during the period of time. When browsing the messages, it is more or less like swimming in the time flow.

It's very quick and easy for people to get familiar with plurk. By the time we are registered to Plurk, we can start to follow others' plurk. People post anything and everything on plurk. For example, people share their latest experience at a restaurant or what had just happen to their pets. Through viewing posts, giving feedbacks on others' plurk and posting our own plurk, we can keep ourselves informed with what others were thinking at anytime. However, the time flow might become complicated when we follow too many friends' plurk. There is a function on Plurk that people can decide whose plurk to follow and whose not while remaining the person as their friends.

For me, besides exchanging opinions, feelings and experiences, plurk is also like a news station. I have followed some famous professors' plurk. And everyday the teacher will share inspiring articles with people who follow his plurk. My friends would also forward some pieces of news on plurk. With plenty of articles and information on it, I have to spend an hour or two to digest those articles on plurk every day.

  4. Dear Martin,

What a coincidence. Being fed up with the countless psycho-tests and web-page games was also my reason to give up Facebook. Now I only use facebook as a way to keep up with what my friends have been up to recently and a platform to synchronize my plurk.

In fact, plurk is not really that anonymous as you thought. People can still google up the words you've said if they want to. Only the private plurk will not be googled. So make sure you use private plurk if you want to tell something behind one's back. =p

  5. Dear Alfee,

I think Youtube is a very resourceful website to use. There are a lot of nice educational clips that nowadays teachers use short clips as a support for their lectures and students use clips as an add-on for their presentations. And people constantly found interesting clips and share them with others to have fun. In addition, we can review the sports game we had missed or the most exciting part of the game through youtube. We can also have the recorded TV news on youtube. It is really a great video sharing platform.

You mentioned that the profile on Facebook enables people to find their old classmates. It's good that people can get in touch with the old friends. However, can it become a privacy issue if someone with bad intention make use of the personal information? Recently there are people arguing that online social community such as Facebook, Plurk and Twitter might raise the privacy and security issue if the usage of these websites goes astray. This is because people sometimes reveal their position right now. And it can be dangerous if someone knows where you live, people with ingenious intention might harm you or your property. There are some tips for you to keep yourself in safe. Please refer to the article: http://sofree.cc/facebook-privacy/
